Details

One of the most recognised artwork in the world; Chola bronze statue involves arduous work; which is handled by our artisans with extraordinary care and devotion. The Shilpa Shastra (texts that prescribe standards for traditional Indian iconography/science of sculpture) is continually referred by us to achieve perfect anatomical proportions. Our artisans who hail from a small hamlet in Tamil Nadu still employ the same lost wax process used in the Chola period. Our sculpted figurines are usually crafted standing or sitting on lotus pedestals known as the padmapitha or padmasana (yoga postures); and are rich with iconographic detail in terms of pose, coiffure, hand gesture and ornamentation. Sutras like Mauli Sutra (measurements done on the basis of string) are the guidelines for our craft making. Our sculptures come in five varied finishes including Antique, Dusty Gold, Patina, Bronze and Black Finish. Mantras are recited by our master artisan during its making which allows our statue to imbibe its properties. All our idols can be kept both at home and in office to energise your spaces; and they impart a positive vibe to your space and environment. The bronze idols were not only known for their artistry but the statues were a work of alchemy. Often known as Panchaloha idols which literally mean five metals are a term for traditional idol making and includes metal such as Silver, Copper, Zinc and Tin, gold (presently gold is only added to our range of personalised sculpture with additional charges) Panchaloha idols were originally intended as procession idols in South India. During festive times it is these large idols that were taken for procession on make shift stands outside the temple to participate in temple festivals. In fact, the round lugs/holes found on the bases of many of the large sculptures are for the poles that were used to carry the heavy images.
